Nickelstick Balintawak Eskrima, Legion Chapter

Nickelstick Balintawak Eskrima

Eskrima is a type of Filipino Martial Art. When executed masterfully even by a smaller and weaker person, its effect can be devastating and lethal against an attacker. Eskrima originated as a Stick Fighting Martial Art during colonial times in the Philippines as a necessity when filipinos defended themselves against foreign invaders. Nicklestick Balintawak Eskrima is a derivative of Eskrima that uses a single stick. The core single stick training is applicable to other weapons such as knives or ordinary objects within the defender's reach like pens, hand tools or even just bare hands and feet using the exact same techniques learned in stick fundamentals. Guru Chan teaches "Practicality" and focuses on building the student's foundation to be effective in "real street situations". Unlike other martial art disciplines, Nicklestick Balintawak Eskrima is not a sport and does not have a "belt system". There are no competitions or tournaments. The focus is real-life survival and being able to go back home to your family safe and sound.
